Introducing EmAble, an Intelligent Fashion brand creating treatment-friendly clothing for those going through treatment and illness.
Founded by a mother-and-son duo, EmAble was born out of the loss of their daughter and sister, Emily, who passed aged 24 to brain cancer. Throughout Emily's experience with her treatment and the effects it had on her body, she experienced a loss of identity and control, especially during her treatment where the act of undressing for treatment left her feeling without dignity.
Joanne and Matthew have founded EmAble to help others going through similar experiences to Emily, for those who may have felt a loss of control, identity or dignity during such a turbulent time in their life.
While we cannot change your destination, we can hold your hand through the journey.
At just 21, Emily was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer. Over three years of treatment, she faced many challenges — from seizures that took away her independence to drastic changes in her body that left her feeling a loss of control.
What affected her most was the loss of dignity during treatment, especially the moments she had to undress. These experiences left lasting pain for her family, who saw how deeply it affected her.
EmAble was born from this love and loss — created by Emily’s mum and brother to ensure others never have to feel the same lack of dignity she did.
Through EmAble, Em lives on, leaving behind a legacy of comfort, compassion, and strength.

During Emily’s three-year cancer journey, Joanne saw how few clothing options existed that truly supported people through treatment. After Emily’s passing, she began designing adaptive garments as a way to process her grief — and to help others facing similar challenges.
Together with her son Matthew, who brings the business side to life, EmAble was born.
Joanne’s creativity and Matthew’s analytical drive make them the perfect team, united by one mission: creating a lasting legacy for Emily by bringing dignity, comfort, and independence to others.
